General public component

If you have a significant relationship with a young person, simple, everyday gestures can have a huge impact on their motivation, self-esteem, and willingness to stick with it.

Our relationships with children, teens, or young adults are avenues through which we can help them fulfill their potential, simply by being present, listening to them, showing interest in their projects, celebrating their efforts and achievements, and encouraging them when the going gets tough.

“Celebrate their achievements,” “Encourage them,” “Hold their hand,” “Help them get organized”: these are simple gestures that require nothing but being there and taking an interest in young people.

This is the key message that HSD will emphasize with the general public from February 17 to 21, 2020.
