HSD 2019 THEME: OUR ACTIONS, A + IN THEIR SUCCESS

This year’s campaign aims to illustrate the power of many small actions adding up to a real difference in a young person’s success. Actions within anyone’s reach. Actions that can be taken throughout a youth’s schooling.

JPS 2019_Affiche nationale + logo RRM_18x24_ENG_LIGHT.JPG Young people are the main architects of their own success. But parents, teachers, and school staff form an inner circle of support – a trio that helps them achieve their potential. This is the first and fundamental + in their success.

Beyond this inner trio, youths build relationships that, while not directly linked to their educational outcome, are likely to affect them. These relationships may be with siblings, uncles or aunts, grandparents, neighbours, or friends. As they develop in society, youths encounter fellow citizens, organizations, businesses, and elected officials, all of whom may also take specific or wide-reaching actions – either individual or organizational – that directly or indirectly support the success of young people. Such gestures of support may be made throughout the youths’ schooling, from early childhood to adulthood.

When you add up all these actions, the interconnections of a community emerge, one that surrounds youths and takes on a certain responsibility for their success.

Laurent Duvernay-Tardif invites you to share your stories

Who has been a + in your educational journey? From February 11 to 15, 2019 Hooked on School Days spokesperson Laurent Duvernay-Tardif invites you to acknowledge one of them on social media by relating a gesture that made a difference for you (be sure to use the hashtag #JPS2019).

Not into social media? Or perhaps your youngsters or students have a story or important moment they’d like to share with Laurent – perhaps a challenge they overcame by themselves or as a group, something they’re proud of, or a trick that helped them persevere? Mail us your drawings and letters for Laurent before February 1, 2019, and we’ll make sure he gets them.
